OL' DIRTY BASTARD ARRESTED FOR TERRORIST THREATS Seems Ol' Dirty Bastard is up to his old tricks again. The rapper, whose real name is Russell Tyrone Jones, was arrested on Wednesday (Sept. 16) night during Des'ree's concert at the House of Blues in West Hollywood for making "terrorist threats."
According to Deputy Boris Nikolof of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, who was reading from the police report, ODB was thrown out of the club for being "drunk, disorderly, and annoying other patrons."
"When the club security officers ejected him from the club, Jones threatened to return and kill them," says Nikolof. West Hollywood police were then called to the scene and ODB was arrested shortly after 12:30 a.m. PT. He is currently being held at the West Hollywood Station in lieu of $50,000 bail.
According to the L.A. District Attorney's office, O.D.B. faces up a maximum sentence of three years in prison if convicted. As it turns out, O.D.B. was also wanted in L.A. County for an unrelated traffic warrant. If O.D.B. does not post bail by the end of the day Thursday (Sept. 17), the D.A. will have to file charges tomorrow. If he does, a court date will be scheduled at that time.
O.D.B. is no stranger to trouble; in fact, his name is becoming synonymous with the word. As previously reported in allstar, the controversial member of the Wu-Tang Clan skipped two Virginia Beach, Vir. court dates, where he faces misdemeanor shoplifting charges, in one week. Before that, he was shot twice in Brooklyn, New York during an apparent robbery attempt (allstar, July 1, 1998).
