Rapper Coolio was arrested in the city of Lawndale, Calif., on Tuesday (Sept. 15) for a slew of misdemeanor traffic and drug charges.
According to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Boris Nikolof, Coolio was pulled over by Lawndale's finest for driving his 1996 Hummer on the wrong side of the road. When officers approached the rapper, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey, they discovered that his driver's license was expired. Additionally, Coolio revealed that he also was in possession of a firearm, which prompted the officers to search the vehicle, where they also found a bag of marijuana.
When all was said and done, Coolio was arrested for an expired driver's license, driving on the wrong side of the road, possession of a concealed firearm, and possession of marijuana. He was booked at Lennox Station and later released with a $1,000 citation. His Hummer, which police were initially going to tow, was driven away by an unidentified friend of the rapper.
