JCOR Records signs joint-venture deal with Hard Tyme Records

Los Angeles, February 14, 2001- JCOR Records West Coast General Manager and Head of Distributed Labels, Dave Weiner, today announced the signing of a joint-venture deal with highly acclaimed hip-hop producer Wino's Hard Tyme Records. Under the terms of the deal, JCOR Records will manufacture and distribute upcoming Hard Tyme Releases and have a 40 percent stake in the company.
Wino, who produced Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise Album as well as works from George Clinton, WC and C-Bo, founded Hard Tyme in 1999 when he decided to pursue his business interest with the knowledge and rapports built in the studio. A musician first, businessman second, Wino runs Hard Tyme with the artists interest first. Hard Tyme seeks to sustain the longevity of its artist careers by signing talent that is able to develop. The deal with JCOR allows Wino's Hard Tyme the freedom to develop artists leaving JCOR to concentrate on creating and implementing marketing plans.
"I've been a fan of Wino's production on Coolio and WC since the early '90"s and I've watched him hit home run after home run on the charts," says Dave Weiner, West Coast General Manager and Head of Distributed Labels for JCOR. "I'm excited and fortunate that Wino decided to get down with JCOR after his short lived hiatus from the music business."
The first album to be released under the JCOR/Hard Tyme deal will be Kamnesia by respected East Los Angeles rapper Kam, an Ice Cube prot'g" who has worked with everyone from DJ Quick to Snoop Doggy Dog. This much anticipated album is full of politically charged club friendly songs. Following Kam, JCOR will release full-length albums from Spade and Spider later this year.
