BMG-US Latin To Distribute Latin hip Hop via GREENSIDE Records

BMG/AME- US Latin will distribute Latin hip hop label GREENSIDE Records. GREENSIDE Records, established by Antonio Mendoza with the success of Latin Hip Hop artists Lighter Shade of Brown, will release a new "Lighter Shade of Brown" CD plus four new Latino rap artists. Lighter Shade of Brown will release a new CD and Latin hip hop artists Junebug Slim, Knight Owl, MC Man and The G Boys will have their CD debuts. Boulevard Nights will be the debut CD for Junebug Slim and will be released August 28, 1998. Junebug Slim is an Oakland based latin rap artists with an exclusive deal with GREENSIDE Records. San Diego based Latin rap artist Knight Owl will have his CD debut with The Wicked West, also scheduled for a August 28, 1998 release. "I started GREENSIDE Records because there was no label for the urban Latin Hip Hop. Now...we're starting to break out. With the help of BMG-US Latin we'll really be able to tap into the Latin market and crossover", stated 24 year old CEO, Mendoza. "Summertime Grove" the first single for the Boulevard Nights CD will be released as a music video. Directed by Vincent Sorrentino "Summertime Grove" will be included in a long form video magazine/electronic press kit that will be produced by GREENSIDE Records and directed by Sorrentino. "This "video magazine' will be shot exclusively on 16mm, focus on the Latin Hip Hop scene and will highlight GREENSIDE artists and include music, interviews, behind the scenes footage and short films', stated Sorrentino. Antonio Mendoza started GREENSIDE Records in Oakland, California in 1995. They first started by manufacturing their own product and distributing it themselves before BMG/AME gave them a distribution deal. Other artists/product currently being preped for released for GREENSIDE Records include MC MAN "Don't Get it Twisted", GREENSIDE Ridaz "Lifestyles of the Skanless", soundtrack for the movie "Lockdown "N Tha Casa', and The G Boyz, a family of five latino brothers, recently highlighted on the Jenny Jones show. GREENSIDE Records has also formed GREENSIDE Filmworks with Vincent Sorrentino to produce long and short form films and music videos to promote GREENSIDE music and artists.
