Russell Simmons hit with civil suit

SOURCE NOT STATED IN THE POST

According to the New York Post, a clothing designer has filed a civil suit against Russell Simmons for allegedly reneging on a Phat Fashions deal.

A'lone Alakazia is seeking damages from Russell and Kimora Lee, in the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, or RICO, suit filed Tuesday in Manhattan federal court.

Alakazia alleges the couple cheated him from commissions, took the credit and blocked him from attending a February launch event after he helped create Baby Phat Pink, a new clothing line for the Simmons' urban fashions business.

Last February, Simmons sold Phat Farm fashions for $140 million, but retained operational control of the company.
