BLACK HOLE COMMENTARY

It is now official. Rawkus Entertainment, the 4-year-old icon of The Underground (and Greenwich Village for that matter), is headed for that pot of gold now more than ever before. With their cassette and CD unit distribution deal with Priority Records (official since April), extensive promotion, and approximately 5 albums already released this year, 1999 promises to be Rawkus' biggest year ever. With that in mind, it will be its biggest especially because of its trademark artist, Mos Def, and its most recent signing, the much-talked about, well-revered 8-year veteran Pharaohe Monch, former member of Organized Konfusion.
