Puff Daddy Arrested

Hip-hop mogul and superstar Sean "Puffy" Combs turned himself in to New York City police on Friday in connection with the alleged assault of the record label executive who manages fellow rapper Nas.

Puffy stands charged with second degree assault and criminal mischief in connection with an attack which allegedly took place Thursday afternoon against Interscope Records executive Steve Stoute, who manages Nas.

Sources told MTV News that Puffy and two unnamed assailants walked into the Universal / Interscope offices, went to the sixth floor, and attacked Stoute.

As we first reported Thursday night, Puffy and his crew watched the premiere of Nas' "Hate Me Now" video on MTV's "Total Request Live" on Thursday afternoon and were angry at the airing of a version which features Nas and Puffy (who also appears on the song) hanging from crosses in a mock crucifixion scene (see "Sean 'Puffy' Combs Possibly Being Investigated Over Alleged Label Exec Beating").

According to sources within Puffy's Bad Boy Records, Nas' record label (Columbia Records) submitted a version of the video to MTV that was not approved by Bad Boy. The official word from Bad Boy is that, yes, there was a dispute between the two labels over the airing of the video, but they could not confirm that any Bad Boy representatives were involved in Thursday afternoon's incident.

Cops say that Stoute was treated at a local hospital for an arm injury and released.

MTV has pulled the Nas video from the air until both Bad Boy and Columbia agree on a cut of the video.
