The actor, who played Ricky Butcher in the BBC1 soap, was with pals in London club Cirque when he spotted BEYONCE's rapper boyfriend and his entourage having a party.
Sid wandered over to join the fun but a 6ft 9in bodyguard told him to sling his hook.
Unbelievably, Sid started to grapple with the man mountain - who was almost twice his size. Then Jay-Z came to the rescue.
An onlooker said: "Fair play to Jay-Z. He recognised Sid and stepped in to help him.
"He just bowled over and introduced himself, pulling the minder away from Sid.
"Sid loved it when Jay-Z said he recognised him as Ricky before escorting him through to the VIP room for a drink."
