DE LA SOUL EYES BIG TALENT FOR NEXT RECORD AND COMPILATION

ROCKTROPOLIS

Hip-hop act De La Soul is busy working on getting several big-name guests to appear on their upcoming album and a compilation project.

Though they are currently concentrating on their own tracks for their as- yet- untitled album, they are also in talks with such artists as Beck, Busta Rhymes, and Jay-Z to perform on a few songs, says a spokesperson for the group's label, Tommy Boy Records. The album, which is the follow-up to De La Soul's 1996 Tommy Boy release titled Stakes Is High, is tentatively expected to be released in mid- 1998.

In addition, De La Soul is also shopping a proposal for a collaborative album titled Zenith Ave. Presents to various records labels, says the Tommy Boy spokesperson. Though nothing has been recorded yet, the group is set to produce and co-write all of the tracks, in addition to performing in most, if not all, of the songs.

The final artist roster has not been confirmed, but artists expected to appear on these various tracks with De La Soul include KRS-One, Common, DJ Premier, the Roots, Jeru the Damanja, Organized Konfusion, D'Angelo, and

Mos Def. No intended record label or release date has been announced at press time.
