WHO: Executive Producers Bruce Willis and Cedric The Entertainer proudly present Ephraim's Song, an urban musical created, written, and directed by award-winning playwright and director Mark E. Swinton. The show is produced by One Roof Entertainment in conjunction with LAUSD Board Member Marguerite P. La Motte and co-produced by Ken Joseph, Peter Giagni & Stephen and Carrie Odell. The show introduces the hottest new talent from 12 Los Angeles City High Schools.
WHAT: The thrilling musical Ephraim's Song, winner of four NAACP Theater Awards, will debut a limited run premiere engagement in Los Angeles during the month of July in conjunction with the launch of the National Foster Care Fund, a new charitable organization founded by Bruce Willis.
Willis was drawn to Ephraim's Song, a play which explores the tenacious spirit of the inner city's Generation X, largely because its message closely mirrored the mandate of his new foundation. "The failings of the foster care system in this country have a direct correlation to many of our society's most fundamental problems", said the renowned actor and philanthropist. "Like the journey of its main characters, Ephraim's Song is a wake up call for each of us to take personal responsibility in the future of our nation and find a way to come together and provide much needed assistance to these children."
Driven by a soulful musical score, Ephraim's Song features the socially conscious urban sound of Booga Basement/Interscope Grammy-nominated recording artists City High, whose album is executive produced by Wyclef Jean and Jerry "Wonder" Duplessis. The stage play uses urban themes and rhythms to tell a story in the language of the inner city. Ephraim's Song ushers the way for a new generation of stories to be told.
