Nightclub bosses pull in Fatman Scoop to play after Snoop has to cancel his aftershow party at Ikkon
TOP nightclub Ikkon has managed to get Fatman Scoop signed up at the last minute to replace Snoop Dogg after The Foreign and Commonwealth Office refused the top rapper an entry visa for playing at the SECC on Friday (March 30).
But the club maintains the famous rapper will be making an appearance at some point - just not this Friday (March 30).
The Kirkintilloch nightclub, just outside Glasgow, had made elaborate plans for the rapper to go there after performing with P Diddy at the SECC, including buying in 100 bottles of his favourite champagne, but that's gone flat now that he's not coming to the UK.
However the buzz had already gone about the Scottish clubbing scene and as such, the club, at 12a Kilsyth Rd, Kirkintilloch, is determined to still put on a fantastic night.
It's flying over Fatman Scoop - famous for international hit Be Famous - from the USA to perform a set instead.
The team behind the night have now spent tens of thousands of pounds in ensuring a top night - between the costs of signing up Snoop and Scoop - but they say that as long as the crowd have a good night, it'll all have been worth it.
And to help people get to the club, they are putting on a free bus from George Square at
As well as Scoop, top local DJs Hesky, Big Al and Hughsy will be playing with PA support from Empathy and Northern Exposure.
A club insider said: "It's a real pity that Snoop can't be here on Friday night as it was going to be a helluva show.
"A lot of people thought we were kidding when we said we had Snoop and his team signed up for the aftershow party here at Ikkon in Kirkintilloch, but the contracts were signed and we were talking to his security team about making sure the place was just right. It was definitely going ahead.
"But then the Visa problem popped up. We were hopeful that the The Foreign and Commonwealth Office might change its mind, but it didn't and as disappointed as we are, it's the fans you've got to feel for.
"We had free buses all set to travel from the SECC to bring the fans here, we bought in a lot of champagne for Snoop and his team as well as a few other touches.
"Sadly it's not happening just now - but Snoop has given his word that when he is allowed into the UK and the next time he is over here, he'll be popping by the club. He signed the contract and he's said he'll honour it as soon as he can.
"Say what you want about the man, he's been totally upfront with us. He was hoping to get here and now that he can't get in just now, he's given his word he will the next time - that's class and a sign of respect.
"But the show must go on and as there were a lot of people already jazzed up for this show, we're bringing over Fatman Scoop to do a set, so it should still be a fantastic night out.
"And we've still got the champagne."
