Reading Festival U.S. Canceled August 20, 6 p.m. ET, Launch

The U.S. version of Britain's legendary Reading Festival has been postponed, due to a lack of A-list talent for the fest. The festival had been set for September 8 in the Philadelphia area, and was to have featured Eminem, Xzibit, and Linkin Park, among others. In a statement, Mean Fiddler, the promoters of the show, explained the cancellation: "While being happy with the quality of our headline acts and with the exciting new acts that have recently joined the lineup, we have run out of time in attempting to add further major established acts to the show. Rather than proceeding with a shortened and diluted lineup that does not fully represent the history and reputation of the Reading Festival, we have decided to spend time assembling a more complete lineup for 2002."

The company then thanked everyone involved with the U.S. version of the Reading Festival. "We would like to thank the bands, the agents, the venue, and everyone who supported out efforts."

All tickets for the festival can be refunded at the point of purchase.
