Rapper Treated And Released From Hospital

POSTED: 9:36 am EDT October 30, 2004

NEW YORK -- There's trouble in the "Best of Both Worlds" rap tour of R. Kelly and Jay Z.

R. Kelly stopped his Madison Square Garden set Friday night after he thought he saw two people in the audience waving guns.

He and two bodyguards were then sprayed with pepper spray by a man in Jay Z's entourage, who was apparently miffed that Kelly stopped the show.

Kelly and the bodyguards were treated at a New York hospital and released.

Jay Z performed another 45 minutes after Kelly was sprayed.

Jay Z told a radio station that he couldn't understand why Kelly left the stage -- adding, "you can't get a gun inside Madison Square Garden."

The two singers are in the midst of a 40-city tour, scheduled to run through November.
