Prodigy to speak at UConn

The hip-hop artist known as Prodigy, who is half of Mobb Deep, will join University of Connecticut professor Jeffrey Ogbar on Monday at 6 p.m. for a discussion at the African American Cultural Center, 2110 Hillside Road, on the Storrs campus.

Albert "Prodigy" Johnson, whose mother was one of the Crystals and whose father was sax player Budd Johnson, tells his story in "My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep's Prodigy" (Simon & Schuster, $24.99). The memoir covers his rap and hip-hop career, battle with sickle-cell anemia and three years in prison, a conviction some believe was based on an unlawful arrest.
