Kimberly Mathers jailed for probation violation

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich (AP) - Kimberly Mathers, after reaching a lenient plea deal last month that kept her from going to jail, has violated her probation and was ordered jailed without bond Friday.
Mathers tested positive for cocaine in a Jan. 29 urine test, said Russ Marlan, a spokesman for the Michigan Department of Corrections. In a meeting Friday with the probation officer, she admitted using the drug, he said.
Mathers, 28, now faces up to five years in prison for violating the conditions of her probation.
Her probation stemmed from a June 10 incident when police found a baggie containing cocaine in her purse and another baggie containing cocaine in the glove box of her Cadillac Escalade during a traffic stop on Interstate 94. Mathers' vehicle was pulled over in a construction zone north of 12 Mile Road. Police stopped her because she failed to yield to cars in the center lane just before a construction barricade.
Mathers was charged with possessing 25 grams or less of cocaine, failing to give adequate space to an emergency vehicle, and driving with a suspended license. She was also charged with maintaining a drug house after people were found using cocaine and methamphetamine in a hotel room rented in her name.
On Jan. 21, Mathers reached a plea deal with the Macomb County prosecutor's office. In exchange for a guilty plea on the cocaine possession charge, Circuit Judge Edward A. Servitto dismissed the charges of driving with a suspended license and maintaining a drug house. She received no jail time for the possession charge and only two years probation.
Under the terms of her probation, Mathers was barred from using alcohol or nonprescription drugs and ordered to undergo random drug testing. If she had successfully completed her two years of probation, her case was to be expunged, thereby removing any evidence of the conviction from her record.
After a stormy relationship, Mathers and Eminem divorced in 2001. They have one 8-year-old daughter, Hailie Jade. Kimberly Mathers also has another daughter from a relationship after her split from Eminem.
