"Killer" rapper freed on parole

Prison psychiatrists say he's A-OK to roam the streets

Darrel "Pharoah" Burton, affiliated with Houston rap group "Street Military", has been released from the penitentiary on parole after serving just seven years of a fifty year sentence for the attempted murder of a 55 year old woman while high off PCP.

Mr. Burton had attempted to plead not guilty due to insanity, which at his trial defense psychatrists had demostrated by various tests showing that Mr. Burton was schizophrenic and, among other things, had trouble with concepts of "empathy" and could not distinguish differences between various human facial expressions.

Prosecutors argued that this was a result of Mr. Burton's rampant PCP abuse and that his attempt to bury the woman while she was still alive showed foreknowledge of the consequences of his actions.

The rapper did not know the victim, appearently being prompted by PCP- enhanced delusions that she was an "assassin from hell".

Some of the more unusual restrictions of Mr. Burton's parole, besides the usual random drug testing and restraining order forbidding him to approach the victim and her family, are the twice weekly mandates to see a psychiatrist and the restrictions against him approaching or owning a domestic animals, because according to a former girlfriend's testimony, "He used to kill my dogs and carve them apart to look for the "bugs" he thought the FBI and CIA were putting inside of them".

The rap group Street Military, known for such local hits as "Kick Door Burglar", "I Don't Give A Damn", and "Dead In A Year", were optimistic about their group member's release.

"Me and Pharoah been talking since he been locked up,", says fellow "Street Military" member KB Da Kidnappa. "He ain't been doing nothing but writing rhymes and lifting weights. He's coming out harder than diamonds!"

"He read the Qu'ran now too,", added fellow member Lil' Flea.

Attempts to contact Darrel "Pharoah" Burton were unsuccessful at this time.
