Kid Rock and Fred Durst Hold Up Run-D.M.C.

In case you've been wondering why Run-DMC's new album, Crown Royal, has been continually pushed back, we can thank Kid Rock and Fred Durst.

The new LP, which will be Run-DMC's first album release since their 1993 Down With The Kings, was supposed to drop in October '99, but has again been pushed back. Arista, has been unable to get approval from either Kid Rock's or Limp Bizkit's label to release songs they recorded with the rappers as singles.

"This collaboration was not done with a single in mind," Limp Bizkit's manager, Peter Katsis, said. "No one ever discussed it in advance." When these collaborations come up," Katsis continued, "it's Limp Bizkit saying, 'Cool, we'd like to do something with Run-DMC.' And that's how it starts. Then Run-D.M.C. and Arista hear it and say, 'We'd like to make this a single.' Well, that's a start-from-scratch negotiation.' "
