How Terror Has Effected Hip-Hop: Pioneer Dana Dane Missing

According to legendary DJ Clark Kent, pioneer rapper Dana Dane may have been a casualty in Tuesday's horrific events. Dana Dane, who was essential in the early days of Hip-Hop worked in the World Trade Center by day in the computer field.

"No one has heard from Dana since the crash. He was a friend who always kept in contact," Clark Kent told allhiphop.com.

Dana Dane honed his style in the early New York days of Hip-Hop. He and his Music and Arts high school friend Slick Rick rapped together in the Kangol Crew. Signing with Profile after he graduated, Dane released a series of classic records, starting with "Nightmares." He followed that release with the 1987 album Dana Dane with Fame. Boosted by hit the hit single Cinderfella, the album went Gold. The follow up, Dana Dane 4 Ever, was released in 1990 and featured "A Little Bit of Dane Tonight" and "Tales From the Dane Side." His most recent album, Rollin' Wit Dana Dane, was released on Madonna's Maverick label. He was also featured in a Chef Boyardee commercial with The Rock.

"He worked in the World Trade Center and friends can't find him. Kangol (from U.T.F.O.) also hit me wondering if anyone has heard from him," Clark Kent continued.

Dane was also one of the first to recognize the powerful combination of clothing and music, opening the IV Plai boutique, a clothing store owned by Dane and Play of Kid 'N Play fame. Hip-Hop fans around the globe are hoping that Dana Dane is alive and well somewhere in New York City.
