KSDK-Clear Channel Communication has fired two of its D.J.'s with KATZ, 100.3 'The Beat.'
Radio personalities D.J. Kaos and D.J. Silly Asz gave their listeners tips on how to disarm and injure police.
That came just days after Kirkwood police officer William McEntee was shot and killed in the line of duty.
The comments outraged many listeners and police, who threatened to boycott the station.
Wednesday, Clear Channel GM of KATZ Lee Clear announced the two d.j.'s were no longer with the station.
He faxed this statement to NewsChannel 5.
"We have tremendous respect for the men and women who risk their lives everyday to serve the community. I am sending a clear message to my staff that our support for our officers is of the utmost importance."
Following that fax, we received a statement from the St. Louis Police Officers Association.
It says: "It is reassuring to the law enforcement community to know the public statements abdicating violence against police officers will not be tolerated. The SLPOA applauds Katz and Clear Channel Communications for making this decision."
Thursday morning, we received a statement from the radio personality "DJ KAOS." It said, in part, "My best friend is a police officer. I strongly support the brave men and women that serve and protect our communities. I have worked hard to help build a bridge of understanding between people and the police, and am saddened by the recent attacks against me. However, I remain grateful to my family and many friends, especially those in law enforcement, for their continued support and encouragement."
