LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Death Row Records founder Marion "Suge" Knight has been arrested for allegedly punching a parking attendant outside a Los Angeles nightclub -- a possible parole violation, a spokesman for the California Department of Corrections said on Monday.

Knight was arrested on Friday by state parole officers "somewhere in Los Angeles," said prison spokesman Russ Heimerich. The alleged incident happened on June 21, he said.

"Apparently he was upset that his car was not readily available," Heimerich said of the alleged altercation. "When you get out of prison, you have terms and conditions that you must abide by, and that includes no violence."

The state's Board of Prison Terms will hold a hearing within 45 days to determine whether to uphold or dismiss the allegations against Knight, a board spokesman said.

If the allegation is found true, the board will determine whether to revoke his parole and send him back to prison, the spokesman said.

Knight, 37, was being held without bail on Monday at Men's Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles.

A spokesman for Death Row Records said he had not spoken to Knight and had no immediate comment about the arrest.

This is the second time that Knight has been arrested on suspicion of violating his parole for a 1996 felony assault conviction.

The "gangsta" rap mogul was arrested in December and spent 61 days in the same jail where he is now being held before being cleared of all but one of the five allegations against him.

At that time, Knight had been accused of violating his parole by failing to inform officials that he had moved to the affluent beach community of Malibu and by hiring drivers and bodyguards who had not been vetted by state authorities.
