50 Cent Sweeps World Music Awards, Skips Source Awards

50 Cent swept The World Music Awards in Monaco Sunday night, winning five out of five prizes, including Best Selling Artist of the Year and Best Selling New Artist. But 50 won't be collecting any of the three trophies he won last night at The Source Awards, calling the show and the publication a sham.

Fans were not surprised to see 50 Cent was absent to accept his three honors for Single, Album and Breakthrough Artist of the Year last night at The Source Awards. With a well publicized beef with the publication and tension with rapper Ja Rule among others, 50's absence was predictable. However, in an apparent gesture of peace, longtime nemesis Ja Rule took the stage to present the Male Artist Award to 50 Cent and accepted on his behalf.

According to BBC Radio, 50 isn't mad at The Source for the October issue's character assassination, but because they called Eminem the Elvis of Rap.

"The Source... that's not even an awards show anymore. They won't have the best artists, they won't even show up. I don't have a beef with the Source magazine. The Source magazine's beef is with Eminem. Because they have a problem with Eminem, I won't be associated with their publication. Because of that, they're losing sales of their magazine. So, in order to compete, they had to do an unauthorized version, so they put me on the cover of their magazine without actually doing an interview, but I have no personal beef with them," 50 told 1Xtra.

Meanwhile 50 and his G-Unit may be embarking on their third major tour this year. The word is that the Unit is presently in talks with the Infamous Mobb Deep and Ruff Ryder's D-Block to unite on a forthcoming tour. The various parties are seemingly close to an agreement as the thugged out crews could hit the road as early as the beginning of November.
